From time to time I have pondered what it would be like to be blind. I thought that losing the ability to see with my eyes might rip away a cherished part of being alive for me.
I once attended an evening dinner performance done in total darkness with the guides that lead us into the room, the servers that brought our food, and the musicians that played music to fill our souls – were all blind. Some from birth and others lost along the way in their life journey.
There were many things that stood out for me, but the most important awareness was the intimacy that occurred with the people who were seated at the same table, the collaboration that unfolded, and the intensity of life felt, heard, tasted, touched but not seen.
The fullness of life lived not from visual sight, but instead from all other senses, heightened during the two hours of this experience. Bringing me closer to Being in the all-encompassing moment than I have ever been.
They taught me what “having sight” is all about – seeing from the heart of life….

Soul Musings is a 31-day practice for the month of December immersed in deep listening to what is emerging and unfolding day by day. Eight sentences with occasional resources to explore more deeply.
Each post, invited by Soul, allows the words to emerge unscathed from prior planning, editing, or censorship. Dwelling in uncertainty and dipping a toe into mystery this union of words is an attempt to resonate within an innate way of Being…. returning “home”.
