Vibrant Resilience

10001352_10203399484245736_457282626_n

“Loss makes artists of us all as we weave new patterns in the fabric of our lives.
Greta W. Crosby

Last week there was a magnificent storm here in Austin, though only in parts of the area.  I had just received my faithful Mac computer back after having a new hard drive installed and was reflecting on how much I depended on this human invention to conduct my daily life and business.  Not having it at all for 5 days brought many gifts, one of which was freedom to dream into new possibility….but first the storm story!

As the sky darkened visibly before my eyes I heard peals of thunder echoing.  You could literally feel the foretelling of something very powerful about to happen.  All of a sudden I heard loud sounds coming from my roof and then right before my eyes there was a dance choreographed by nature that stunned me and took every bit of my attention.Very large hail balls were bouncing off of the roof in every direction imaginable and landing wherever they were guided to.

The sound beat against my consciousness while I was mesmerized by the seemingly chaotic movement. As this continued the sun broke through lighting up the stage and causing a glistening on everything around.  Brilliant a0d6ce033greens on the leaves and diamond like white reflected off of the hail so bright that it almost hurt your eyes, and then it happened…..a very small rainbow appeared briefly near a car parked in my next door neighbors driveway!

The joy I felt in the power and beauty of this storm touched something deep inside.  This was nature’s resilience taking a bow reminding me that though this past week of my life had held many challenges – major car repair, computer breakdown and a very difficult challenge for one of my clients – it was my task to weave new awareness into my life, not only with the color and brilliance of that rainbow, but inclusive of every single moment of the entire storm.

In actuality the rainbow was just a part of this natural display.  Without all of the other parts of the storm it would not have happened just the way that it did.

It is so easy to “react” to the challenges, stresses, and losses in our lives, yet I have learned that simply being present  – allowing the emotions to have breathing room, and old patterns to walk on by, without reacting or taking action from these transitory and unstable places –  is a path to new possibilities unfolding.

jwj_bluebonnets_043bThis is vibrant resilience.  Like the bluebonnets in the picture here that grace many of our hillsides and roadways in Austin right now.  Spring represents the possibilities that rest in the challenges of life.  A continual renewal that can only come to our attention if we allow space for our lives to unfold.

Mindfully breathing amidst new energy patterns……welcome in possibility…..

A Beautiful Example of Vibrant Resilience

Rest In Natural Great Peace

1_3_Sogyal_Rinpoche_Rest_in_Natural_Great_Peace

Imagine a glass of muddy water and what happens if you continue to shake it up.  Then what happens if you allow it to be in stillness.  This muddy glass of water is like our mind agitation.  Always filled with millions of thoughts continually crashing on the shores of our everyday life and distracting us from our purpose.

Like all of you I sometimes find my mind constantly reaching for something to figure out, worry about, future what ifs…and it goes on.  Though when relaxing into simply inhabiting the place of being in the moment, and letting go of anything that has to “be done”, the mind rests into a stillness and the glass of water becomes clear.

What if we could rest in this clear place in our everyday life?  What if all it took was a deep trust that we would be taken care of if we simply let go and “rested in natural great peace”?  How ease filled life would be.  Yet this often feels so far from our reach in the midst of a busy day with the demands and stimulation that comes at us from what seems like every direction.

I wonder if it is possible to take each of these demands or responsibilities into the understanding and embodiment that each request of our time whether in relationship, business, child rearing, or profession comes from an opportunity “for” us versus doing something “to” us.  How might this change the way in which we live our lives?

It is from this place of  “natural great peace” that the water clears and we are able to rest in the source of who we are.  What greater place to inhabit for a richness of life that has us sitting down to the banquet of life.

Take a few minutes and rest within the images and words of the poem “Rest In Natural Great Peace”.  Though there are Buddhist images and powerful chanting that accompany this video it is really non-secular in nature.  It invites all of us to come home to the core of our being….Natural Wealth indeed!

Fundamentals For Changing The World

1452277_587191874663356_1201417442_n

Moving into 2014 I thought it relevant to bring some thoughts on how each of us might participate in our lives in a way that enhances our expression from wholeness.  Something that is now vitally important to the changing world that we inhabit.

The fundamentals below could also be said to be relevant for exposing and evolving our unique expression without fear in each moment of this gift of life we have been given.  For what is life if not the most precious gift possible that needs to be shared fully and extravagantly with the world in service and love.

My comments are below the quotes from Gandhi.

Gandhi’s Top 10 Fundamentals for Changing the World:

1. Change
You must be the change you want to see in the world.”
“As human beings, our greatness lies not so much in being able to remake the world – that is the myth of the atomic age – as in being able to remake ourselves.”

As our planet and systems evolve and shift to a healthier way of being the most important element in that change is the invitation you extend to yourself to deepen into the heart of living – to fully express your life from a place of transparency and vulnerability.  Your soul is beckoning you to come out.  Listen, move beyond the fear, accept the constant inevitable change, and come out dancing with your own unique being!

2. Control.
Nobody can hurt me without my permission.”

Essentially their is no control in this life as everything is always changing.  We only assume we do have control out of a sense of protection and fear.  What if we became a collaborative culture listening to and respecting others ideas and creativity, and discarded control as a reflection of our own low self worth and distrust of a moving Universe that has a wisdom way beyond what we can even comprehend?

3. Forgiveness
The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.”
“An eye for eye only ends up making the whole world blind.”

A powerful example of this is shown in the restorative justice movement which is currently sweeping the world. It is a means – a way – to go to the very source of violence and desperation and bring healing through exposure and forgiveness.  South Africa gave us a beautiful model and now we are realizing that when perpetrator and victim can come together and deeply forgive themselves and each other that the cycle of violence is broken.   That is strength!

4. Action.
An ounce of practice is worth more than tons of preaching.”

How often have you come in contact with those that speak a volume of words but either do not take action, or live a life completely different from what they have been preaching?  Taking action from values and heart felt practices of living consciously and compassionately is what it will take to change the world.

5. The present moment.
“I do not want to foresee the future. I am concerned with taking care of the present. God has given me no control over the moment following.”

Living in the past or projecting what will happen in the future only takes us out of the moment we are in.  The present moment is all that we have – one breath in and one breath out at a time.  Shall we miss the passage of our life all together or shall we make each moment count?!

6. Everyone is human.
“I claim to be a simple individual liable to err like any other fellow mortal. I own, however, that I have humility enough to confess my errors and to retrace my steps.”
“It is unwise to be too sure of one’s own wisdom. It is healthy to be reminded that the strongest might weaken and the wisest might err.”

This is called transparency.  To know that we are human and that we will make mistakes and hurt people – not out of malice or forethought, but out of being human.  As each of us relates from a place of deep understanding, compassion and kindness we inspire each other to come out of hiding and present ourselves “naked” to the world.  If everyone is doing this then we shall see how much we are really all the same….

7. Persist.
“First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.”

Staying true to your path and purpose with some changes in course from time to time – one must be resilient – is perhaps one of the most exhilarating, at times frustrating and challenging things to do.  However, what do all of the great positive change makers have in common – they persist!  By the way, don’t forget to ask for support from time to time.  This is the era for connection, collaboration and co-creation!!

8. Goodness.
I look only to the good qualities of men. Not being faultless myself, I won’t presume to probe into the faults of others.”
“I suppose leadership at one time meant muscles; but today it means getting along with people.”

When we put our attention on the good in life that is what we see and experience.  When we put our attention on the good in people they seem to relate to us from the place where we have placed our attention. What could be simpler?!

9. Truth
Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.”
“Always aim at complete harmony of thought and word and deed. Always aim at purifying your thoughts and everything will be well.”

Mindfulness in all that we do contributes to living in truth – truth of the moment and the truth of what we feel and express in each of those moments.  It may be challenging to cozy up with truth at times, but the alternative is to live our precious lives in a flurry of self inflicted lies and assumptions.  Whenever your mind makes an assumption or tells you a story ask the question – Is this true?  Bet it won’t be most of the time!

10. Development.
“Constant development is the law of life, and a man who always tries to maintain his dogmas in order to appear consistent drives himself into a false position.”

Once again we come back to the truth that everything changes.  There is nothing – I repeat nothing – in this world that ever stays the same.  That includes everything.  So why hang on to old stories, philosophies and rigid rules when you could have such a grand time co-creating a new world one new development at a time….and then like a child’s building blocks let them all fall down and start over again.  It is in the very act of creation where lies the spark of life…

To Be Or Not To Be….

CanadaGeeseCOPR111905_2228

“Wherever you are no matter how lonely, the world offers itself to your imagination, calls to your like the wild geese, harsh and exciting – over and over announcing your place in the family of things.”
Mary Oliver

….that is the question!  To be or not to be.  We struggle to know ourselves throughout our lives not realizing that it is a simple task of being present to what is emerging moment to moment within our being.  Not the labels that we have taken on to define us, but instead something much vaster that keeps us yearning for something that seems just out of our reach, yet is right there in our imagination and deeply imprinted in the cells of our body – in our very heart, spirit and soul – coming home to the sacredness of our innate being.

Even for those that don’t get “the lingo” that I just used – you know what I am talking about..  This place of living comes from having engaged the patterns, stories and beliefs that have held us captive within an exterior lived life and that have kept us basing our actions on what is important to those that touch our lives more than what comes from our authentic expression.  At some point in time this engagement has kept us alive and surviving – sometimes quite nicely thank you very much.

Now, what the global shift we are undertaking asks from each of us is to heal and clear away those engagements that no1045166_530216187026429_838979867_n-1 longer serve us and to re-engage from a place of deep authentic awareness of who we are and what type of service we are here to offer.  This is a far cry from what most of us have lived most of our lives.  This wild “soul nature” is directly connected with the natural world.  In fact, we are the natural world. So many have long ago forgotten this and given themselves away to a paradigm of mechanistic thinking that now threatens the very planet that we live upon and has impacted every segment of our society.

For me one of the places that I find this engagement with “soul” is on the ecstatic dance and contact improv dance floor.  Here there is no leader and no follower.  Instead the “dance” is based on what is emerging from and through you in every moment.  There is complete freedom here for one to explore what is yearning to be expressed in a safe, loving and playful environment.  I have always stated “I desire to live my life in the way in which I dance” – free, natural and from a deep soul expression.  Aging has it’s compensations – I am coming closer to this every day!

Another place I find this deep sacred self engagement is within the energy work that I offer to people.  Deep listening, trust, heartfelt engagement and embodiment create the knowing where I am to place my hands next.  The evolutionary component comes into place as I sense and feel the blueprint of the individuals energy system returning home to harmony and wholeness.  This then sparks the transformation of the system to “upgrade”, thus deeply supporting the individuals “coming home to themSelves” in a way that translates into their everyday life.

For the rest of this year I invite each of you to make a real, honest heartfelt invitation to your soul to “turn up the volume” as Sera Beak says in her new book, Red, Hot and Holy: A Heretics Love Story, thus  “becoming more present and active in your awareness, body and ordinary life”.

Bruce Lipton, Ph.D., an internationally recognized stem cell biologist and leader in bridging science and spirituality proposes that Darwinian evolution theories are not holding up to what quantum scientists are now finding.  It is now coming to light that each leap in evolution happened because at some point the membrane of a particular organism was stretched as far as it could go to the point of bursting, thus the evolutionary urge brought the organisms together to form a new collaborative life form to expand the potential of the new organism.  They had to expand their container (or cell membrane) in order to continue to live!

With the advent of internet and other forms of connecting we are now recognizing that the very core of life is deeply interconnected and that the fate of ourselves and the planet depends on collaboration, acceptance and coming together in innovative, compassionate and creative ways. This form of new life depends on each person inhabiting more clearly a rooted sense and embodiment of their purpose here and taking actions from that authentic expression and wild Source.  This translates to expanding our old containers for they have become too small for our being.

As we move into the holidays I extend this invitation to come into them with as much of YOU on board as possible.  By that I mean not succumbing to the mind numbing stress that can happen this time of year and more gracefully relating to family, friends and co-workers from a very grounded and whole sense of yourself.

Our growth and awareness often comes in small increments, but it is in simply saying yes to the sacred journey of life that this expansion becomes rooted.

May your holidays be the best that you have ever experienced!

How you breathe is the way in which you live your life.  If this statement is true, then how would you like to breathe?  Shallow and restricted or full bodied and naturally?

Use a focus each week for the entire year to promote the vibrant aliveness that is your natural birth right!

The Wealth of Mystery

Esoteric-Agenda-Kymatica-Documentaries-GLOBAL-AWAKENING

Those who dwell among the beauties and mysteries of the earth are never alone or weary of life”.  Rachel Carson

What would our lives be without mystery?  I would not want to imagine that sort of world.  A world where everything is explained away as having  one particular meaning or understanding.  A world where the sacred spark that  starts the heart for the first time is explained away as a biological function and the mystery of a caterpillar being turned into the liquid form of imaginal cells that assist the creation and emergence of a stunning  butterfly with the opening of the chrysalis is monarch-emerging-from-chrysalis2downplayed as just nature doing its thing.

Even our very breath that keeps us alive.  Where and how does your breath emerge?  Have you ever thought of it in terms of a mystery instead of attempting to pin it down in scientific terms?  What happens with that first breath, the 7,000 each day, the 500 million in a normal lifespan, and the last exhale that flies from our bodies to soar elsewhere.

Breathing supports every experience you have.  You exchange 10 billion trillion atoms with your surroundings with every breath you take.  The atoms that you inhale every day have traversed the bodies of living beings across the universe and across time – a testament to the law of giving and receiving.   What mystery connects us all in such an intimate dance in something as simple as breathing in air and All things share the same breath the beast the tree the man the air shares its spirit with all the life it supportsout air – each breath having emerged out of or taken in by another living form.  Always interconnected….

Even the cosmos beyond, around and within us bubbles with mystery of the unknown.  Man’s efforts to pierce the veil of something so immense that one cannot even grasp a very tiny bit of it’s character or vastness is at best futile.

Perhaps the daily mysteries that face us as we walk through the moments of our lives are meant to provide the spark for opening our arms, our minds and our hearts to moving forward into the places that hold no explanation….but instead hold a place for awe, wonder. and creativity.

It is within this dance of creation that we feel the life pulse that creates the greatest natural art piece that we will ever behold.  Know that the beauties and mysteries of the Earth and all that surrounds it will always hold the meaning for our lives.  It is this which we indulge in.  It is this that keeps us awake and present to the endless mystery and wealth that is life here and now.

Indulge and be shaken apart never to be “put back” the same way ever again.  Soak in the mystery and behold that you too are a part of this natural dance of the Divine.

When we surrender to (Grace) we surrender to something bigger than ourselves – to a universe that knows what it is doing. . . . We learn to trust that the power that holds galaxies together can handle the circumstances of our relatively little lives.” ~ Marianne Williamson

Where There Is Love, There Is Life

480268_602288759787449_466801905_n

Years ago now I was a participant in a week long retreat facilitated by friends where breath, sound therapy and body work were combined to take each individual, and the group as a whole, into very deep states of stillness in the mind and the body.  What transpired there was not merely an experience, but a way of perceiving, and an awareness, that to this day I will never forget.

What I felt near the end of the week was the most astounding awareness.  One that was embodied, not simply known in the mind as a concept. It is difficult to describe in words a knowing that all of us carry inside but constantly forget.   Yet what I will say is that there was no doubt at all that we are simply and absolutely love.  That is the energy that creates us as we are and continues to be the source of our life.

I have been lucky enough to still hold this awareness and way of perceiving within me even though my mind attempts to pull me out constantly.  It is a life long practice to keep going back to the power and awareness of the creative energy and being of love that drives everything around and within us.  We keep forgetting…

Dr. Brian Green, a famous string theory physicist was here in my town of Austin, Texas a couple of weeks ago.  As he talked everyone’s mind was stretched beyond the confines of the everyday reality that we live in on a day to day basis. it struck me that even the incredible creation of and within multiple universes is merely a larger reflection of what is happening – let’s say between two humans.

Through merging, breaking apart, collisions, deterioration and even death there is always a creative force that is underlying all 164427_602274153122243_1970267722_nlife.  The creation fueled by the energy of love.  A force so strong that when accessed can shift individuals, communities, nations, planets,  and even universes.

Ghandi’s statement above has been voiced by many of the leaders and indigenous peoples of our times.   We actually all know this as an absolute truth.  Isn’t it time to bring back the collaboration, cooperation and acknowledgement that all life is created from the creative energy of love….and that without it everything falls apart.  Let’s start now….

Natural Wealth Course by Richard Cawte, Ph.D.:naturalwealth3dsmall-222x300

http://resonancewithlife.com/natural-wealth-course/

Moments or Experiences?

Dear Richard –

Your last post made me reflect on how I am presently living my life Richard.  With all that is going on globally right now in every single facet of life attention often goes to worrying about what the next change will be and how we will adapt, cope, or be effected.

Meanwhile, the moments of our lives are going by at a rather rapid rate unless we consciously slow them down a bit.

How do we do that and focus not on the experience as a whole, but the moments that make up that experience?  It seems that is where the juiciness rests and the ability to be resilient within the changes.

The focus of the yoga class I attended today was on Emaho – the Tibetan invocation for auspiciousness.  This is an expression of joy, wonder and amazement to be found in the moment.  When was the last time that you said to yourself, or felt, “I am THRILLED to be right here, right now”?

We forget, plain and simple.  I know that I do.  Being in the moment – right here and now – seems to stretch that moment teasing us into the flow of breathing into our life, instead of avoiding or holding on tightly for fear of change.  Perhaps resilience is an ability to be fully present in the moment as much as possible where action can be taken, decisions made, wonder and amazement can be felt, and love given and received.

When I consider what I should put in my “toolbox for change” Emaho is definitely in there!  Just a moment ago I left this post and was distracted by the need to look in the frig to see what there was to eat when I all of a sudden came to a blank place about what to write next.  Instead of just resting and breathing in the moment I became uncomfortable and certainly not trusting that if I just waited for a bit the next bit of content would arise on it’s own.

I have to admit that I have a wonderful bowl of yummy food at my elbow right now tempting me to avoid this particular moment of writing flow, but I have vowed that it will not have its way with me!  How many times in our daily life are we distracted and leave our bodies, our relationships and our deepest desires in the lurch?

Perhaps this time of great change on so many levels is meant to bring us back “home” to the most important thing of all – the moment of being right here, right now.  The fact that we are simply breathing is phenomenal!  Have you ever considered that?  The pain and the joy of living tempt us to engage beyond the moment and make of it more than it is.  The only thing for certain is that everything always changes….nothing stays the same – ever!

That being said we have a choice.  String our life with experiences, or be completely in the moment to moment of those experiences with all of our senses and awareness present.  It takes courage to live life that way! …and the pay off is extraordinary!

With great love in the moment,

Gaye

P.S.  I know that I have used the picture at the top of this post before…but I find it so delightful and a testament to being completely in the moment.  It is one of my all time favorites!

Adapting to Changing Times

Dear Gaye,

This post is rather longer than usual, not least because it has been a while since I have been able to write. I hope, however, that it will be useful for those who are concerned at what might happen in the coming months and years. Many people are predicting doom and gloom. I say that there are huge challenges staring us in the face, but that we all have the answers to them, sitting right inside us.

Our reader makes some interesting points. A lot has been said about the whole 2012 “phenomenon” and although the evidence from the few sources that remain (all too few thanks to the Spanish conquistadores who smashed or burned most of the Mayan records) is very slim, there are plenty of other cultures that have predicted a time of great change – not just for humanity, but for the Earth itself.

Yet change is ever in the air, each moment in time a plethora of decisions being made by every one of the billions of people now alive. Perhaps it will help things if we all remember that each one of our choices, small as they might appear to us, are crucial to the wellbeing of all.

You asked me to talk about the financial climate, so let’s begin with that. Will we see a time of wholescale change on the financial front? I think we will. And I think it will be a change that takes a lot of people by surprise.

Our reader talks of the seismic shift in the foundation of what we call currency. I agree with him. There has to be a re-evaluation, whether profound or pragmatic. Hopefully both.

Let’s look at the pragmatic side briefly. There is no doubt that with the multiple trillions of debt in the countries of the Western World, something will have to give at some point. Right now, in Europe and the USA, interest rates are being kept artificially low, which is good news in the short-term for those who are borrowing. But there is a sting in the tail.

Central banks have been printing money like there’s no tomorrow, gifting it in droves to the financial institutions in the countries they service. They don’t do this without calling in the debt at some point. So you can be sure that there will be a period of interest-rate increases ahead. My guess is that this will come in 2014. When it comes, it will most likely be a quick-fire increase, perhaps even a hyper-inflation that will have a dramatic effect. When interest rates are low, an increase of even half a percent can feel huge to the pockets of ordinary folks.

Beyond that is the wider question of whether currencies can survive at all? Will the US Dollar still exist in five year’s time? Will the Euro collapse, sinking other currencies in the process?

Right now we are in the lull before the storm. In Europe, Greece has managed to stall the disintegration of the Euro with its recent elections. I don’t expect this to last. Greece will not be able to fulfil its promises, nor will Spain or Italy – whose debt is the third largest of any country in the world.

I see a different form of the Euro emerging in the next two years. As some countries default, a smaller group will almost certainly protect what they have. Headed by Germany, these countries will elbow out those they see as a threat to their stability. But I expect the Euro to survive in some shape or form.

As will the dollar. But not as you might know it.

The biggest shock I foresee for Americans is that the already long arm of the Chinese Empire will reach right into the heart of the West, dictating the shots to an extent that will leave many shaking their heads. The toxic debt is simply too great to ever be clawed back by simply trading our way out of trouble. China, with greater assets and more liquidity than any country in the world is ideally placed to capitalize on a system that has brought itself to its own knees through excessive lending.

There are those who think that China has over-stretched and it certainly has been guilty in recent years of emulating the western banks’ excessive lending. But the way of the East has always been very different to that of the West. Where we seek instant solutions, the Eastern way is to play for the long term. Patience is the name of the game.

If you think China might collapse any time soon, take a look at Australia, Africa and South America: all of which are now unofficial colonies of the Land of the Dragon. It’s just that no one is talking about it in the mainstream media. Europe and America will soon follow suit.

The other element to look at is the sheer number of people that the Chinese have at their disposal. Manpower is the crucial resource when it comes to creating an empire and China has more manpower than any other country (India still being behind in other ways).

They are also willing to export this resource because they need more space at home. They work harder and longer than any other people I know. And they will undercut the prices of locals who try to compete with them without a second thought.

All this is a recipe for success; for the Chinese rather than the West, where we have come to expect plenty in return for nothing.

But, can the banking systems survive at all? Yes is the answer, but only if the fiat currencies that they currently use are replaced by something “real”: which means returning to the gold standard or devaluing them by subtler means.

As a matter of fact, the governments of USA and Europe are already doing all they can to devalue their currencies without anyone noticing. If they can drive their currency rates close to parity with the price of gold, they will be able to make the transition more easily. Watch this space, as they say.

Opening things even wider, I believe we are undergoing a re-evaluation of what we, the common people, think currency is. It is more than just money, that’s for sure.

Health, Wealth, Spirit, Love and Self Expression are all forms of currency and it feels to me as though the tipping point is coming when enough people begin to remember this. When times are hard, we fall back on things that we truly value, such as love, friendship, connection. And times are going to get “harder.” So, a shaking of the current financial system, which is really nothing more than a high-level con, may be a good thing in long term, releasing us from the bondage of materialism and isolation and paving the way for a more integrated, sharing world.

On the more profound level I also feel our groaning planet saying “enough is enough!” It has had enough of the male-oriented ego-based policies that have dominated the last few centuries and we would all do well to remember the old prophecies (from all around the world, not just the Mayan Calendar) that speak of a time when the Earth itself decides to start a new era, bringing in climatic changes, collisions with asteroids and so on as a way of purging itself.

Already we have seen examples of this, with more droughts, floods, extreme weather fluctuations. It is my view that unless and until we shift the way we do things, this trend will continue. We get what we give – and we are giving our environment one heck of a kicking right now.

I’m not apocalyptic about this. We can change the course of events if we choose to. It’s entirely up to us. But we have to make decisions based on love, compassion and connection, rather than profit, ego and competition. We can do it. We just have to trust ourselves and each other, applying to our true natures; our Divine Selves.

When we relearn the art of respecting the planet on which we live, it will respect us in turn. If we return to the ways of listening to it, following the rhythm of its breath, rather than imposing our own, we will make it through.

It doesn’t have to take a long time either. Seismic shifts in consciousness can happen amazingly fast. One day people thought the Earth was flat, the next they knew it was round.

Whichever way you look at it, there is some kind of financial collapse imminent. An infection must be healed for the body to regain balance. The likelihood is that the whole house of cards will have to come down and be rebuilt. If this happens, you will see scenes like those in post-war Germany, when a barrow load of cash bought little more than a loaf of bread.

How to combat this? For now, it would be wise to consider divesting yourself of some of the “blue collar shares” you may have, replacing them with gold, silver or rare metals. Consider moving out of cities, if you can. You can be sure that we will see more riots and civil unrest in the coming years than we have seen for a generation. Martial Law is not a thing of the past.

It might also be a smart move to change from looking for instant profits to thinking in terms of asset protection. A lot of folks are about to have the roof blown away from over their heads as financial institutions are brought to their knees. In such times, preserving assets is just as good as gleaning profits. Now is a good moment to remind yourself that the return OF your money is more important than the return ON it.

Above all, we can ALL make a difference to the way things unfold in the next few years, simply by turning back to the oldest way of making choices available to us, the way that never fails to nurture both ourselves and the planet on which we live: our intuition.

When we follow our intuitions unerringly we always do what is best for us all, for our intuitions are the culmination of millennia of learning, whereas our ego-based thoughts only came to the fore in recent centuries.

The key is that odd-looking word “unerringly,” whose path one of inner faith.

Until next time,

Richard.

The Dance of Light and Dark – Navigating Change

Today Richard and I received an e-mail from one of our community members which very eloquently requested guidance on being present to the vast changes and shifts happening all around and within us.  Our reader writes:

“The reality is, as you are undoubtedly aware, very turbulent and the earth and we are going through a lot of changes. So a grounded consciousness is required to navigate through it. There is a transfer of wealth taking place before our eyes so we may as well be on the receiving end of that too. So what I would like to have is more guidance from your experience. … The integration of spirit and the nuts and bolts are essential to expand the creative mind.”

There is widespread global agreement that we can no longer rely on systems and beliefs that have contributed to the devastation of planet, economics, social justice, and overall well being.  As this community member states “the integration of spirit and the nuts and bolts” is essential to re-balancing what has gone completely out of balance.  This also is about what Richard and I feel are the feminine and masculine energies coming back into alignment with each other on all levels.

I will leave the financial and economic wealth advising to Richard, but here is my contribution to the whole from a feminine perspective.  A day ago I read a story that struck me powerfully as a wake up call to pay attention to life moments and all that happens around us.  This story revolved around relationship, death and choices.  Very simplified this is what is always in front of us.

On a deeply spiritual level this is where our wealth and power to ride the waves of change rests…in the moments and the opportunities to integrate the heart with creative mind, engaging in the building of whole systems and relationships that contribute to the well being of all life. Accepting that death is a part of the living experience so that new life can evolve and awareness can be born.

Is it the smallest of events in our lives and the moment to moment choices we make that have contributed to the larger shifts that are upon us?  The beauty and the darkness dance together asking us to choose in every single moment.  In that very choosing and active engaging we ground ourselves over and over again.

Leon VanderPol writes: “It is all there in black and white, the dance of the light and the dark. While the puppet masters scheme for a world in which power is centralized in the hands of a few, a force of great magnitude shines brightly as it calls out to each and everyone of us to make a choice—to become truly engaged.”

What if the navigation system for this time that we are in is one in which we are absolutely present to the daily events and choices of our individual lives.  From that place we assist each other within relationship to work towards the good of the whole organism which we call Earth…one minute dot in the entire vastness of expanded life outside of our planet.  The wealth we seek is NOW in the choices that we make.

It is important to understand and have a feel for the shifts and transitions that we are in the midst of.  Yet,  if we take our attention off of the opportunities, choices, and decisions that present from moment to moment and become consumed and overwhelmed by the challenges that face each of us and our very existence….. we are lost.

So much is going on in any one moment.  What will we choose to engage with?

“I come to a tree so rich with autumn’s golds and reds it makes for a mild ache.  I lie down under it, close my eyes and let my mind wander.  I think of all that is happening elsewhere, as I lie here.  Nearby I can hear the sounds of a road crew.  Somewhere else monkeys chatter in trees.  A male seahorse becomes pregnant.  A diamond forms, a bee dances out directions, a windshield shatters.  Somewhere a mother spreads p-nut butter for her son’s lunch, a lover sighs, a knitter binds off the edge of a sleeve.  Clouds gather to make rain, corn ripens on the stalk, a cancer cell divides, a little league team scores.  Somewhere blossoms open, a man pushes a knife in deeper, a painter darkens her blue.  A cashier pours new dimes into an outstretched hand, rainbows form and fade, plates in the earth shift and settle.  A woman opens a velvet box, male spiders pluck gently on the females’ webs, falcons fall from the sky.  Abstracts are real and time is a lie, it cannot be measured when one moment can expand to hold everything.  You can want to live and end up choosing death; and you can want to die and end up living.  What keeps us here, really?  A thread that breaks in a breeze.  And yet a thread that cannot be broken. ”

Where Our Attention Goes, Energy Flows

Dear Richard,

Sustainable sources of wealth for our families and communities.  That is what stuck with me after reading your last post Richard.   We have a broad perspective on wealth at ResonanceWithLife, however it feels important to me to take a look at how our culture defines wealth and our part in the creation of that.  Where do we individually, and as communities, put our attention?

Recently I was given a very strong lesson in this universal principle – where we put our attention the energy always flows – and oftentimes makes it even stronger than it would normally be than if we put our attention in other places . The universal tendency is to place attention on what is NOT working.  That could be pain, emotional upheavals, stress at work, interpersonal connections –  most anything.  I thought I was immune being a particularly positive person…but turns out that I certainly am not!

It is easy to see this very strong biological imprint in action that rests deeply within our cellular make up.  This survival instinct has us always on the look out for anything that seems to imbalance or threaten our life as we know it.  Thus, we tend to put attention on the negative things as they seem to be what is threatening us – even if they really aren’t!

For example in a recent yoga class we were asked to consciously shift our attention from our “screaming hamstring muscles” in a particular forward bend.  Instead we were asked to think of someone we love and put our attention there.  Immediately when our attention was taken off of the pain, the discomfort actually lessened, and in my case I realized that my range of motion also increased.

Yet another lesson in this universal principle occurred recently within a powerful change in my own daily life.  Focusing on all of the negative factors put me in a place of extreme STRESS.  I wasn’t happy and the stress was building.  Physical health and life energy were being compromised as my new set of circumstances brought daily challenges which I was perceiving as negative.  I felt trapped.  An entrapment of my own making as it turns out.

Then something happened to cause me to reflect on how I was thinking and where I was putting my attention.  The learning curve that I was in brought with it stress, that was certain.  But, where was I putting my attention?!  On how much the life that I had been leading was being affected – loss of freedom and creative time, tasks that were being given to me that I either didn’t know how to do or didn’t have time to do, interpersonal conflicts that were arising all around me…and it went on.

After reflection I decided that I would try a little experiment to see if changing where I put my attention would make a difference.  An intention was set for the next day.  Attention went on everything that I was doing right on this learning curve, and taken off of any mistakes or inability to perform in the way that I thought that I should.  This attention also included words being used to describe experiences during the day.

You might be able to guess the result of this experiment.  The day went smoothly.  Interpersonal connections were easier.  Everyone seemed to be happier in my environment….and I was a lot less stressed!!

So….given that our economies are under tremendous pressure and changes right now, I ask the question where should we be putting out attention?  On fear of loss and drastic financial change?  Or ways that we truly can create sustainable sources of wealth for ourselves and our communities NOW, based on a deep planetary interconnection with all of life?

Where your attention goes, energy flows!

With Love,

Gaye
